Vidcap Release Notes
Version 1.5.0 (January, 1, 2020)

Search

Happy New Year!!
Its been a very long time since I last updated. I've been knee deep in other activities (including studying for an exam, drawing, and trumpet playing), so my priorities have not been on this site. I apologize.
But, we have great news. You can now search Vidcaps!
You will now see at the top, or in the mobile menu, a search bar. To seach, just simply type something in and select the search icon.
From there you will be prsented with the search page.

Every search will display a variety of Tabs.
Vidcap - Displays all matching published vidcaps. Published vidcaps are completed with a Title, Summary, and a Category.
User - All published results that match the user's submissions.
Bookmark - All your bookmark that match. You will see a red border around the ones that are not published.
Submission - All your submissions that match. You will see a red border around the ones that are not published.

You can also search by categry and by hashtag.
Category - To search by category, you will need to search a value (any word) and then hit search. The results page will display a category drop down box. Select the category (e.g. music) to view the results.
Hashtag - Hash tags can be search simply by typing the desired hashtag (e.g. #gaming, #kpop)

Version 1.4.0 (September, 2019)

Timestamp Repeater Range

1 - The timestamp repeater has been given an update. Now you can select a range of timestamps! This will allow you to loop through any range length that you want.

Version 1.3.1 (Auguest, 2019)

Timestamp Repeater / Optimization

The timestamp is one of my favorite features I've implemented. I wanted to go a step further and allow these to be repeatable. That is, clicking on a timestamp repeater (the circle-arrow icon on the right) will allow the timestamp to repeat indefinitely. There is one more update that I'd like to do here where you can repeat through ranges. That will be for the 1.4.0 update. So it will be here soon!

I've decided to use the month of August to fix a few items here and there. The previous 1.3.0 update exposed some issues that made the Vidcap troublesome to use.
Long story short, I went ahead and worked on some css/javascript optimizations. I was able to see a big difference in how this site looks and perform.
There are still issues, but I will continue to monitor and fix these in the upcoming days/weeks/months.

Timestamps / Replay / Post Skipper / Continous Play

Hey everyone! This was a simple, yet complex, yet effective update.
One of the issues I've faced when creating Vidaps was determining what makes a section a section? Should someone expect to create a new section for each and every portion of a video, or could it be segmented even further within the Post area?

For example -
* What if a Vidcap was made up of songs? Wouldn't it be a good idea to skip around the song to listen to your favorite part?
* What about a cooking video that has main sections (ingrediants, preparation, baking, table setting, etc.) , but also has quick steps insuccession in between? How would this be handled? * Or even, a sports video such a winning play in basketball. Wouldn't it be a good idea to skip to the important parts for further analysis (such as an inbound play that's stolen which lead to a breakaway pass to a winning shot).

That's when I decided that it was time to implement ... Timestamps!.
Timestamps -
* Can be created for all Post items
* Are hideable
* Will highlight the current time as the playing video
* Skip to any time within the video's time range
* (Double Clicked) will zoom the focus back up

I've added some extra functionality here and there. One major one was the Replay button. Just double click the Section/Title area (between the arrows) and the video will replay once again (at its starting time of course).

Another usefull feature I've added was the Post Skipper. When sharing, you can select the desired post number you'd like. When your friend's see the Vidcap, that post will be automatically selected. All you need to do is add "p=#" and the post will automatically skip to the desired post.

Finally there is Continuous Play. With continuous play, once a post has completed, it will countdown (5 seconds for now) and automatically start the next post.
You can, of course, cancel this so that you can have more time to read the post. Also, if logged in, you can set whether to have this feature on or off (off by default).

Comments

Hey everyone! A new functionality has been created : Comments!! Its fairly straight forward. You will have the ability to create, edit, delete, and reply to a comment. I find this to be a very important feature since you can directly comment on your favorite Vidcaps. This will help creators make better content. Right now, you can view comments through the Vidcap, but later I will have a designated section for the user to view all their previous comments and their replies.

Version 1.1.0 (May 14, 2019)

500 Error / Email Setup / User Settings / About Page

I've been using the app a lot. Really became reliant on it. Upon using it this month, I received a 500 error, even though Azure has all systems go. This update is the fix for it. The positive is that I can focus on updating the 500 error page and give it instructions on how to fix the error, and how to contact me if the problem persists.

This leads to the email setup. For now, I've created one account (admin@vidcap.co). This will handle things like error issues and password resets (which still hasn't been implemented quite yet). Perhaps I'll build out a contacts page where you can select the topic you'd like to ask. Since everything is attached to Outlook, I can take advanage of some of the Office365 features (mostly the calendar)!

A new module has been created : User Setting. Now users can update their username as well as change the autoplay setting! There are more features that will be available as we go.

The About Page has been fleshed out with the who/what/where/why/how. I'm working on a Vidcap on how to use the app. It may be straight-forward for me, but I think its best to make things easy as possible for everyone.
Stay Tuned!

Version 1.0.2 (April 6, 2019)

Homepage / About / Version

I was looking around and realized that the site did not have a real homepage. That made the site very hard to understand. In addition, it didn't have an About page or a Version page. So, I added them. These are placeholder until I can get something better going later on.

Made the collapsed menu a little easier to use. The buttons were a bit too small. Updated to Bootstrap 4. This caused some issues with some styling, so I had to kind of redo most of the CSS. No worries, its working now.

Version 1.0.1 (March 1, 2019)

Minor bug fixes.

There are bugs here and there. That was expected. I don't mind it too much. There will always be bugs. Some updates to the CSS, mainly the Table of Contents and scrolling through it on mobile. Fixing button layout, etc. I'm understand that I'm slow to update, but I am committed to this site (for at least a year).

Version 1.0.0 (February 10, 2019)

Site Launch!

Welcome to Vidcap! I've been working on this site on and off since September 2018. I'm happy with out it turned out Anyway, what a crazy night! This is my first time using Azure. Many things went wrong, but at 3:00 AM I finally made it work. Now onto testing! This is only a Beta. Not all of it is functional, but hopefully I can get it worked up in a month or so where others can make use of it.

As far as updates, I want to push a few incremental ones every week and one big one once a month. I have many ideas and am planning on really using it, so please stay tuned.
